Watched Johny English Reborn, the newest comedy in the Cinema recently and Rowan Atkinson without fail made us laugh our wits out throughout the show!
In this second rendition of the Johny English series, Johny is recalled from self imposed seclusion by MI7 to undertake an important mission. This show takes the concepts of James Bond and comedize it successfully! Johny English like Mr. Bond, has an arsenal of high tech gadgets to assist him on his spy missions, and not to leave out the car which has also been retro fitted with ‘interesting’ features. The Aston Martin did make an appearance this show however, Johny preferred the Bentley instead – which was actually not bad, as I think it brought a more prestigious demeanour to Johny.
Of course the show featured a few very hawt babes in it as well, what spy show wouldn’t. This show is a definite have to watch and will definitely bring more than a giggle from the audience as they see the clumsy Johny take on the villains in his bemusing ways!
Do wait for the ending credits to finish for the Easter Egg clip of Johny English – which is a must view!
I watched Contagion yesterday at GSC Pavillion, and it was quite a long winded story…
At first Contagion seemed from the previews to be somewhat like an end-of-the-world story, something like Resident Evil where people die and die and die. However, this movie isn’t about that at all although it shares the same storyline precinct. A new virus that is deadly to humans (the similarity) whereby it disintegrates their brain cells (the non-similarity) and spreads very fast across the world (the similarity!). The storyline is probably a re-imagination of the swine flu epidemic that hit the world sometime back, mixed in with some suspense, and drama.
Although long winded in nature the story did manage to keep and maintain some level of interest in the audience by timely puns but I believe that this movie is not recommended if you’re someone who hates documentaries.
Over the weekend I was in Singapore and despite the rainy weather made my way to Scape just off of Orchard Road to visit the AKB48 Official Cafe and Shop there. AKB48 is a Japanese Idol Group and is very popular in Japan, as well as worldwide. Their songs and dance performances are very good especially those that could be seen on Youtube.
The AKB48 Official Shop Singapore was a small quaint shop selling mainly posters and official merchandise of each member of the group. I did manage to get myself a poster of Atsuko Maeda my favorite idol of the group. No pictures of my poster though
The AKB48 Cafe had a very quaint look to it, the outside was appealing, the inside held a stage for performances to be had – though no performances for the day I was there… pity. Along the tinted window were portrait pictures of the members of AKB48, some with signatures from those that have visited previously. Me and my sister had lunch there, to try out the food and drink.
The menu did not have much in terms of choice but it was a typical cafe menu, which was okay. I was recommended the Japone Pasta which had mushrooms and bits of bacon.
For starters though, I had the Minestrone Soup which came with the Japone Pasta as part of a meal, this was chosen over a bowl of salad. The soup was light but the tomatoes were definitely there! With equally sized chunks of vegetables, the soup had a very good tomato-ish taste which was not overpowering and should substance be needed, a few of those chunky vegetables goes very well together with the soup.
The Japone Pasta was a good choice and it was delicious! The pasta was cooked perfectly by the chef and the seasoning was not heavy or too light. The serving too was adequate, and made for a good meal and would definitely allow me to enjoy the atmosphere and performance through lunch… should there be one, which so happens there wasn’t when I was there *sad*. I was really looking forward to seeing some of their real life dance performances.
There were a few choices of floats available, and I had the SKE48 Summer Peach Lychee Soda Float which was the special for the day. It had a very interesting taste, but once mixed well together, the float gave a very refreshing sensation and did not clash with any of the food.
The AKB48 Cafe Singapore at Scape, is definitely a recommended place to have a light meal if you’re around the Orchard Road district with prices which are quite affordable – not converting to Malaysian currency – with a nice environment to sit in. I think that before anyone goes there though, make sure to check for the performances schedule to make the visit more worth it.
For me, I managed to take away a picture with our waitress Shizuka who also happens to perform for the cafe audience on occasion.
