On Saturday, 7th January 2012 Renault Malaysia hosted its 2nd Renault Track Day at Sepang Circuit with an even greater turnout of Meganes from across Malaysia and Singapore. I was also participating in this event as who would miss out the chance to have some good fun on the track with fellow Renault owners!
Although this time I did not push my Clio RS197 out hard but I did manage to have alot of fun and meet the friends for the new year. This time round, TC Euro MD Reza was providing the taxi rides for those that would like to experience the Megane’s prowess on the track. The uptake on the Renault Sports marque in Malaysia has indeed up’d a notch since last year… however there is still only a few of us Renault Clio owners around… but the outlook seems to be changing when sometime during 2012 the Clio RS200 will hit the shores of Malaysia. According to friends in Renault Malaysia seems that it will not be the standard Clio RS but the Cup edition as well as limited run edition as well.
I look forward to the next track day which is in a few months time. At that time I might have some ‘interesting improvements’ that my Clio shall be bringing to the track… hopefully to allow me to chase down some sifu’s in their Meganes
After an exciting trackday at Sepang with fellow Renault Sports owners from Malaysia and Singapore, it was time to service my Clio. This time round I decided to stick with the same engine Oil and Brake Fluid from Motul as I felt it was a very good oil. This time round the new item that I shall be trying is the Redline 75W90 Gear Oil which is rated at GL-5. I have been hearing good stuff about their oils and many high revving NA marques use them – I’m referring to of course the Honda Civics.
This time round the damage is around RM 900 for the above and RM 400 for the labour. Furthermore, new pads and tyres are needed… The standard Renault Pads have seen me over 7 trackdays and provided excellent braking performance and only lost its bite after the last trackday, while the Federals lasted me 5 trackdays and its about time to change. Coupled with my upcoming purchase, this few months will be very expensive for me.
All in all, I hope to get all these done before the next Renault Sports trackday which is scheduled for tentatively on 7th January 2011. This trackday I managed to best my time once more, so I look forward to doing even better in the upcoming one.
Coming out of the Renault Sports Track Day in Sepang last week, Paul Tan did a good coverage of the event on their automotive blog. Seems a few pictures of my Clio are on their page! Damn, doesn’t their pictures look good… I guess that’s the difference between equipment… I snap with my blackberry and sony handycam…
