Fast and Furious 5: Rio Heist

Went to see Fast5 last night at GSC Pavillion. Being an avid fan of the Fast and Furious franchise (I believe most car enthusiast would be) from the start, I had high hopes of the new installation of the series. I was not let down.

The movie was packed with fast action scenes and stunts which were very uncommon and original to some extent. I believe this time round not much emphasis on cars were made and the movie this time round builds more on the storyline, which lies in between Fast and Furious 3 and Fast and Furious: Tokyo Drift. High performance cars were only given a relatively short screen time, but they definitely were many (no spoiler here).

Even though deviating slightly from what the franchise was known for (high performance cars, tuning, aftermarket, illegal races, etc.), they did a very good job in the emphasis on character development storyline. In my opinion, how many movies out there have succeeded in making a die-hard copper who play the bad guy look cool? Not many. Most of the time, these characters lose and die off at the end of the movie.

Fast5 is great and a definitely recommended watch! I can’t wait for the next episode development in this movie franchise.

Thor

Last night I watched THOR at Golden Screen Cinemas Pavillion. Accompanying me for the show is a bag of Famous Amos cookies, 200 grams did not seem sufficient to last the whole movie… should have brought more.

The beginning seemed interesting enough and clearly the screen play was good. It was especially refreshing to see that the movie did not emphasize on sexy babes to make the movie more appealing. Probably even if they had wanted to, the character’s apparels would most likely not have permitted. I’m inclined to think however that the ladies would not share this notion with me concerning THOR as there was much display of hard abs and muscular integrities throughout the movie. :)

This movie was a good watch, although I feel that the fight scenes were a bit short played and for the first hour of the movie it did leave me wondering whether the movie was a comedy instead of an action movie.

Malaysia Renault Clio RS 200 Cup

On April 27, 2011, in Automotive, by jeremy

During a recent event hosted by TC Euro Cars Malaysia on the 6th of April 2011, importers of the Renault mark of cars I spotted the very first Renault Sports Clio RS 200 Cup in Malaysia. This is the vehicle that they are using for their JPJ approval process before they are able to import and sell the car into Malaysia.

Malaysia Renault Clio RS200 Cup

As a Renault Clio RS 197 owner, this has left me drooling as previously TC Euro has never imported the Cup version of the Clio or the Megane until the latest Renault Megane RS 250 Cup. The car comes complete with the ‘to-die-for’ Recaro Sportster CS seats and of course the more solid Rear diffuser as compared to the RS 197.

According to Reza, M.D. of TC Euro the Clio RS200 Cup revs and gear shifts’ smoother than the Clio RS197 that I have. Could be time for me to ‘upgrade’ my Clio but I still think that the RS197 has a more handsome face compared to the RS200.
