Today I purchased the 2nd Magic the Gathering Event Deck for the New Phyrexia series named War of Attrition as well as an old Pokemon World Championships 2005 Deck, Dark Tyranitar Deck from Comics Corner in Bangsar Village 1.
Initially I wanted to purchase some boosters but somehow… the sales person there was able to detect I’m a collector and pushed me the MTG Event Deck that was the last one in stock. Couldn’t resist so I purchased it for RM100, and the War of Attrition Deck joins the collection. I have not opened it yet to discover what cards and strategy this deck employs but so far I have noticed many cards that are a remake of older cards such as Pacifism. I wonder what this deck shall contain, I shall leave that to next week when I open it up.
The Pokemon World Championships 2005 Deck was actually something that I had previously wanted to add to my Pokemon TCG Collection for some time. I do have the full and complete Wizards of the Coast Pokemon TCG Series as part of my collection currently stored away in a safe place. Guess this deck will remained unopened… Managed to acquire this one cheaply for RM10, which I think is quite cheap… compared to when it was launched and going for somewhere nearer to RM50+.
Well… damage for today, RM110. I probably should be saving for a new set of tyres for my Clio instead.
The Autobacs Super GT 3 2011 Sepang was a very exciting event. The second day itself saw Sepang International F1 Circuit packed with motorsport fans. All the GT Queens were out in full force entertaining the crowd and there definitely was a big following as photographers snapped away as the GT Queens posed. A local favourite was the Super GT Queen hailing from Malaysia itself, Ms. Felixia Yeap whom I just managed to snap a picture of before the crowd descended on her…
Well, not the best picture out there but I guess it’s the best I could muster with my reliable Sony compact camera. I wonder, how come her signature poses always seem to involve her sticking out her tongue though. Interesting, but maybe one day one I will be able to find out from her many fans.
Before the main Super GT 3 event took place however, there were a few supporting races held and one which took my interest for the day was the One Make Ladies Race where lady racers took the wheel of their Toyota Vios to gun for a podium finish. At first I though it would be quite a lacklustre race without much action, but I was extremely wrong. Compared to the other Super GT support races and the main Super GT race, these ‘ladies’ were really attacking the cars in front of them.
I was spectating the race from Tower 11 & 12, and for those that don’t know it’s the viewing tower on turn 15, the final turn before the front straight. Unlike all the other turns where overtakes may be conducted quite cleanly, turn 15 is really where the action is and is also why on many track days overtaking on this corner is prohibited. This turn sees cars fighting after heavy braking from the back straight, and with a tighter mid-corner road gives drivers little space to play, however they also need to carry a lot of speed through this corner for the long front straight. It is always interesting when all these factors play for each driver in a race.
What I did manage to bring back from the event was interestingly enough, 2 sets of Autographs. One by Thunder Racing Asia drivers and a full set of all the Honda Racing teams drivers and 3 of their managers including the drift king himself – Keiichi Tsuchiya! Yay!

Last night, I and my mum frequented Penang Village Restaurant located on Level 3 of Great Eastern Mall, one of the more prominent malls in Ampang district. I had just gotten back from Sepang attending the first day qualifiers of the Super GT 3 event and was quite hungry.
Upon entering the venue, we were greeted by their friendly staff and seated at the corner on some comfortable sofas. The atmosphere was good and spacious, with a family feel. Notably, their menu also has a family touch with much dishes for sharing… although it seemed that they do not have much patrons at their establishment… or were we here at the wrong time?
I ordered their Penang Assam Laksa, which was noted as their chef’s recommendation and asked our waiter what was recommended for their cold drinks and was referred to a drink that was called Jungle Books. Jungle Books is a mixture of 7UP, Calamansi and Mint, sounds interesting enough so I gave it a go, while my mum order Tom Yam Fried Chicken and a Teh Tarik.
I was quite surprised that their Penang Assam Laksa was good! The assam was not over-powering and the quah(soup) had a very good consistency which was neither watery nor too thick, and the dish was not packed with ingredients nor were it lacking. There were some tuna chunks inside as well which went well with the dish. I believe that this has to be one of the better Assam Laksa dishes I have ever tried even from my past trip to Penang. Frankly the dish had the right amounts of everything… except serving size, they should have been more generous!
Trying the Tom Yam Fried Chicken, it was quite okay but not really as amazing as the Penang Assam Laksa. I did like the crackers though.
Now this drink really matched well with my Penang Assam Laksa dish. It was a cool and refreshing drink, the mint and calamansi really working wonders together with the 7UP. Some assam laksa and this drink and I was wanting more to eat! Unfortunately, we had to leave and not go for second rounds…
Price wise, the bill came to around RM48 after tax and service charge, which rates this restaurant to be on the more moderate side of affordability. But, if Penang Village Restaurant keeps this level of their dishes up, I believe they will really do well and I hope that more people will frequent this restaurant which seemingly not many knows about.
